This course is a probing and critical inquiry into the theology and practice of White Supremacy within American Christianity. We will explore the roots of that theology and practice in Christian history and reckon squarely with the legacy of the perspective of what Martin King, Jr. called the “White Moderate,” which is so prominent within mainline Christianity in the US, which is itself a unique expression of white supremacy. Using Robert Jones’ book of the same name as a primary text, this text will focus on reckoning with the ways that white supremacy shapes the church, which will clear the way for organizing Christians to overcome it.

This course will be conducted weekly on Zoom. A link for the Zoom classes will be made available to you before the course begins.
