Each person’s life is a sacred story—unique, laden with insight and eager for engagement. When we write our experiences, we discover patterns in the details, open ourselves to surprises, and participate in meaning-making. Writing memories, done with intention, becomes a transformational practice.
Join Elizabeth Jarrett Andrew, author of Writing the Sacred Journey and Living Revision, for this introductory retreat weekend. What is memoir, and how is it different from autobiography? What makes memoir “spiritual”? How can writing memoir, whether for an audience or not, support spiritual growth? Using writing exercises and readings from model writers, we will get started with the basics. We will also discuss how to sustain spiritual memoir writing as an ongoing spiritual practice.
This retreat is a hybrid offering. You may choose to attend either in-person, or online.
