Creative Journaling on Zoom: Moment to moment
“Life is measured in love and positive contributions and moments of grace.” Carly Fiorina
I used to think time passed by so quickly because I was busy…NOPE. It’s just passing by quickly. All the more reason to make each moment count. The Japanese practices and ceremonies reflect their deep awareness and acceptance of the concept that “Ichigo ichie” or, “Each moment only occurs once”. We seek to not only be in the moment but to also remember that this very moment will not exist again. Where are these moments? How do we “collect” them? How might our awareness of this change us? How might we capture some of what we experience in our journal?
November 13: We will explore ‘ichigo ichie’, what kind of moments exist and how we might experience more. Supplies: One mid-dark colour of acrylic paint, white paint or gesso and a brush, water-based markers or pencil crayons, a black calligraphy pen, a black permanent fine tipped marker and a soft white pencil crayon, china marker or Posca fine white acrylic pen.
November 20: Let’s focus on what a meaningful or sacred moment might look like and where we might find them. Supplies: A ‘page-in-waiting’, one with a coverage of dark to mid-dark colour. Or go ahead and collage colours, scrape paint or otherwise get a coverage of colour. White gesso, a stencil (commercial or one we make), a pencil, water-based markers, bond or computer paper, baby oil and a permanent fine tip marker.
