Do you love journaling and want to integrate visual art with your words? We will invite Spirit’s guidance as we learn arts techniques to complement our written words.
This fun and exploratory experience is meant to meet you where you are with regards to journaling and art-making. No particular skills or experience is necessary to participate, yet the program will have something to offer even the most experienced writers and artists.
Materials List: a physical journal, a favorite pen, watercolors, brushes, container for water, at least one page with typed text (torn from a book or magazine or newspaper), and a Sharpie or thick opaque marker. (Optional) Oil pastels, masking fluid, markers, highlighters, artist inks, a straw or stirrer, isopropyl alcohol, a dropper, sea salt, magazines and/or decorative papers for collaging, permanent glue sticks, mat board, cardboard, or card stock, a utility knife, a cutting mat, and an X-acto knife.

Jesse White is a narrative expressionist artist and writer. She is the author of Pendle Hill Pamphlet #468, God’s Invitation to Creative Play. Her vocational background is in teaching and expressive arts therapy. Jesse served as the Arts & Spirituality Coordinator for Pendle Hill from 2013-2020 and currently serves as the Director and Spiritual Arts Doula for Pigeon Arts, a cathartic art-making organization. She also currently serves as Clerk of Frankford Monthly Meeting of Friends (PA) and as Clerk of the Board of the Fellowship of Quakers in the Arts.
