In illuminated manuscripts, like The Book of Kells and Dante’s Divine Comedy, text is supplemented with illustrations, decorated letters, borders, and figurative scenes in radiant colors and glowing gold and silver. The bright nature of these manuscripts helps us contemplate our faith and the symbolism of hope in trying times.
Join Trinity Retreat Center and acclaimed iconographer Susan Kelly vonMedicus for a weekend of interactive reflection as we immerse ourselves in this practice by using the “white vine” motif of Renaissance Europe and humanist italic script technique. This live online workshop will use the same historic materials used in the middle ages: 23k gold leaf and ground mineral pigments.
