The Anglican Approach to the Bible

Dr. Donn Morgan

This course explores the central role of the Bible for Anglicans. We will study the distinctive ways Anglicans have used and interpreted scripture. We will also look at the ways scripture has shaped and formed Anglicanism. We will seek to illuminate the dialogue between scripture and tradition in Anglicanism through reading the Bible in conjunction with representative Anglican resources.

Donn Morgan retired in 2014 as Professor of Old Testament at Church Divinity School of the Pacific and Director of CALL.   Always a teacher of the Bible, he has also held other administration positions at CDSP (academic dean, president). He has been deeply involved in theological education in The Episcopal Church and the Graduate Theological Union, as well as teaching in Asia and England. His most recent books are Fighting with the Bible and Manifesto for Learning.
