Sacred Tibetan Art Intensive With Lama Gyurme
The images of the historical Buddha and the ancient Tibetan methods of precisely reproducing them have been passed down through thousands of years of direct teacher-to-student transmission. In the modern era, the masters who are qualified to continue this tradition are few and far between. This class will be taught by Lama Gyurme Rabgye, who has been studying the technique of Sacred Tibetan Deity Art from a young age in Tibet. He is willing to share his vast knowledge to all who wish to learn. This class will begin with a brief history of Tibetan art, when it originated and its significance now and in the future. We will learn the precise geometry of the sacred images and use Tibetan wood block prints to practice taditional painting techniques. After this experience you will never see the form of the historical Buddha or any other sacred image the same way again. Lama Gyurme offers ongoing weekly classes in Santa Fe.
Please note that our workshop price structure packages your tuition, course materials, lodging and meals together in a single rate. Prices are presented for each of the types of lodging available for the workshop you select. All rates are Per Person, Double Occupancy unless otherwise specified.
Single Occupancy: Single occupancy rooms may be reserved for an additional $50 per night when space is available. The fee will be charged when space is confirmed. Single occupancy lodging is generally not available during June and July. If you are a single person and do not specify a roommate, a roommate of the same gender will be assigned to share your lodging space or you can request the single occupancy and be charged the supplement of an additional $50 per night (based on availability).
