Quilt Week 2016
with Dianne Jansson, Kathy Kinsella, and Lynn Knox
with Dianne Jansson
Most quilters are familiar with the traditional North American patchwork and quilting designs that have been handed down through recent generations.
Many of the geometric designs go back centuries and are based on mosaic or floor tile patterns from early Middle Eastern architecture. Triangles, diamonds, hexagons and stars are common shapes used. These same shapes were then repeated in ancient textiles.
Spend a relaxed week designing and sewing a quilt top using these shapes. A selection of patterns will also be available in class.
DIANNE JANSSON has taught quilting workshops throughout British Columbia and across Canada, and in Australia and Iceland. Originally from Australia with a background in home economics, Dianne has inspired many quilters with her easy teaching style and has helped her students learn new skills and be more creative in their work. Dianne was named the 1997 “Teacher of the Year” by the Canadian Quilters Association.

Studio paints and supplies will be provided for a lab fee of $25.
KATHY KINSELLA is a textile artist whose work includes silk fusion abstracts, landscapes that capture the essence of the Shuswap, work with a whimsical flair, and liturgical fibre art. Prior to retiring to the world of fibre art, Kathy worked for the Anglican Church for twenty years – in a parish, at the diocesan level and then at Sorrento Centre.
