Course Description
Note: This course has replaced SPIR 510: Seasons of Renewal
This course will focus on the sayings of Jesus as recorded in all four Gospels – both the attractive (consider the lilies) and the challenging (sell all you own). Students will approach these sayings through the lenses of both scholarship and poetry, including Malcolm Guite’s current sonnets reflecting on and wrestling with the sayings of Jesus.
Live and Recorded: This course will be delivered through a live digital classroom. You are strongly encouraged to participate in real time. If you are not able to attend the live sessions (e.g. due to work commitments or living in a different time zone), you will also have access to class recordings for a period of 14 days.
