Old Testament: Wisdom Literature
Dr. Sandra Collins
March 26 – May 18, 2012
Registration Deadline: March 22, 2012
The course will engage in a literary, historical and theological study of the wisdom books of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs as well as selected Psalms. The broader context of Ancient Near Eastern Wisdom will also be explored. We will follow a thematic approach through sapiential (wisdom of God) literature and its concerns for suffering, virtue, decision making, life priorities, childrearing, illness and death. The course is intended to foster the student’s development of a personal, loving relationship with God while at the same time providing a solid scriptural foundation for later theological studies.
