Minding God’s Business: Organizational Management and Change, with Jay A. Hewlin: September 25 – November 21, 2015

  • Minding God’s Business: Organizational Management and Change, with Jay A. Hewlin.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Today’s church leaders are required to function in a dual capacity. On the one hand, they are expected to uphold the traditional functions of spiritual leader. On the other hand, nurturing the spirit takes place in buildings that need light and power of their own. In other words, there are financial considerations, human resource matters, and legal contracts with which to contend.
“Organizational Management and Change” is a class designed for church leaders, who wish to better understand what makes an organization successful, how different organizational structures adapt to change, how to mobilize and manage full time and volunteer staff. Topics will include: entrepreneurship, marketing basics, change management, and negotiations and conflict resolution. Attention will also be given to transitioning from one organizational model to another, and how to know when it’s time to focus resources elsewhere.
