Mindfulness Yoga & Meditation

The fast pace of our modern world often has us spinning. We live in our heads in the everyday to navigate the busyness and details of our day to day lives. In our hurry and rush we can become stressed and feeling very disconnected or fragmented.

The practice of yoga with mindfulness of the body and breath is a powerful tool to reconnect and ground us in our physical being. This is helpful to bring us to a greater feeling of calm presence in the here and now. To live fully embodied in the present moment, helps us to feel fresh and alive and awakens us to a greater awareness so we can respond to our daily experience with clarity and right action.

In this workshop we will learn:

  • Daily self care yoga practice
  • Simple breath techniques to calm and ground
  • Daily meditation practice to support a feeling of connection and embodiment

Please bring your own yoga mat and blanket for the practice.


Valerie Hobson and Catherine Heighway, Certified Yoga Instructors, have over 50 combined years of yoga teaching. They have been colleagues and friends since the inception of The Lotus Centre in 1998, a yoga studio in London, ON, opened by Valerie and her husband. Both originally trained as teachers in the Sivananda tradition but have continued their studies together and separately in the fields of Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda. They continue to grow and expand their awareness of these traditions with internationally renowned teacher Todd Norian, RYT – 500 and the Ashaya Method. They have completed a second 200-hour yoga teacher training in this method.
