I Love to Tell the Story with Joanne Epply-Schmidt
O THE DIFFERENCE between memorizing a story and learning it, between acting out a story and embodying it, between reciting a story and telling a story!
Are you interested in breathing life into a story? Learn to tell stories with confidence, ease, and a sense of wonder in these enjoyable interactive sessions.
At our first meeting I will provide you a selection of scriptural stories and folk tales from which to choose. Day by day, through movement, character development, visualization, vocal improvisation and art work, you will learn to tell that story.
We will address how we set the tone for our stories, how we discover the sense of wonder that compels teller and listener alike, and how we reveal our understanding through silence and gesture as well as words.
We will conclude the week by telling our stories! You will leave Sorrento with stories to tell, and a set of skills and techniques to employ at any time to help you learn and tell new stories.
Dive into the art of the oral tradition by which narratives, teachings, wisdom, and great truths are imparted to listeners through the skillful art and entertainment of a story well told!
