Based on Parker J. Palmer’s recent book “On the Brink of Everything: Grace, Gravity and Getting Older,” this six week series provides an opportunity for those who want to age mindfully with others, seeking new insights and life-giving ways to engage with the world. This series will use a Circle of Trust® approach inviting reflection on inner and outer life, and utilizing practices developed by the Center for Courage & Renewal.
Anyone of any age or spiritual path wishing to explore the meaning and experience of getting older is welcome.
Over a six-week period on five Thursday nights (March 5, 12, 19, 26 and April 2) and a final session on Monday April 6, 2020 from 6:30 to 9 PM, we examine themes such as:
- Generativity, legacy and harvesting our lives;
- The realities and possibilities of our lives as we age;
- Staying engaged with our own soul and with the world.
-
Participants will engage in an invitational process involving input, personal reflection as well as small and large group exploration of themes.
About the Venue
The Mary Ward Centre for Education, Spirituality and Justice is a Ministry of the Loretto Sisters (IBVM Canada). We seek to promote peace, justice and the integrity of creation. The aim of the Centre is to empower agents of change to create a more just and sustainable world. We provide experiences, celebrations, workshops and events that nourish individuals and groups to move forward to action. By examining and understanding more deeply many of the injustices of our world, we hope to influence others to create the world in which God intended. We work collaboratively with other religious organizations, educational institutions and faith based justice groups to improve the lives of all of God’s creation. Our sessions will take place at the Mary Ward Centre, upstairs at Loretto College, 70 St. Mary St. in Toronto, and is generously co-sponsored by the Centre.
