Advent Prayer Weekend

Facilitated by John Govan, S.J.

There have been many miraculous births recorded in Scripture before the Annunciation. In all of them, the person asks God for a child. However, when it came time for Jesus to become human, God takes the initiative and asks Mary if she will allow God to become flesh? For us today, God is asking each of us the same question. Are we willing to allow God into our lives each day in a personal way?

This is what Advent is all about. It is a season for remembering God as the Creator who is still creating. It is a season for admitting our need for God in our world and in ourselves. It is a season calling us to true humility. It is a season inviting us to wait with hope. It is a season for us to prepare ourselves so that we can really welcome God in a new way. And the weekend is all of these.
