Weaving and Working: Feminist Voices in Spirituality and Justice
This learning opportunity will focus on feminist voices in spirituality in conversation with social justice. We will highlight Canadian voices of women writers, religious thinkers, workers, and activists, through a variety of ecological and social lenses. How are women weaving together new understandings of what it means to be in “beloved community,” in light of the many gender-related injustices in our society? How do voice and action embody a prophetic call to justice? We will explore these questions and more through video lectures, articles, and voices found in poetry, prose, and action. (1.2 CEU)

About the Instructor
Dr. Darlene Brewer is a weaver and worker in feminist theology and justice-making. She works as a minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Wyndholme Christian Church, Dartmouth, NS. Dr. Brewer has worked in urban chaplaincy drop-ins and centres, churches, and universities, as a teacher, program coordinator, and minister. One of her true passions is teaching and she is delighted to be offering online programming at AST. As a Newfoundlander, she is increasingly aware of the importance of ‘place’ and ‘space’ in our identities and understanding of theological and social justice issues.
