You Can Draw Awesome Celtic Knots
with Brian Dench
You already know how to draw everything you’ll need: a dot, a line, and a square. A 12-step program unlocks the key, and you produce your first knot weave in only 20 minutes!
Then, tips and tricks change up the method to broaden the basic knot into a repertoire of varied designs – minor adjustments cause surprisingly complex pattern changes.
Learn to figure out “how did dey do dat,” training your mind’s eye to ‘crack the codes’ that created 9000 years of “ribbon interlace” and the remarkable designs of Celtic monastic culture.
Discover hidden meanings and ways knots relate to scripture and liturgy. Examine examples of knots as applied art from altars to tatoos, manuscripts to corporate logos.
Knots can even be a calming meditative exercise – playful but capable of thoughtful intellectual and spiritual connections … OR simply just the best doodling ever!
No artistic gift or training is necessary, though experienced artists will find riches to please. Be awe-struck by what you accomplish in this empowering knotty experience!
MATERIALS: Please bring blank paper, fine tip black marker pens, colour markers or pencils and tracing paper.
