Worldwide Christianity Today

with Bob Paul

The North Atlantic nations of Europe and North America once were the unquestioned center of Christianity. Over the past century, however, the Church has significantly declined in the North Atlantic region and only vestiges of European Christendom remain. In sharp contrast, the Christian movement has grown dramatically in the global South, most notably in the former ‘mission fields’ of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. This course surveys the historic dynamics of the Christian movement, the burgeoning growth of the past century, and issues that impinge on post-Christendom Western churches in light of the diverse, multi-cultural, worldwide expansion of Christianity.
Rev. Dr. Bob Paul is Associate Professor of Mission Theology and Dean of St. Andrew’s Hall. He has served as a pastor in five churches, and as the chief executive of mission organizations engaged in ministries around the world. His teaching is grounded in scholarly study, animated by deep love for the gospel of Jesus Christ, and illustrated by experience in real-world leadership contexts.
