Witnessing To Truth And Reconciliation

A Retreat And Training For All Who Support Indigenous Rights

Friday, March 9 (6 pm supper) to Sunday, March 11(1 pm)

Are you passionate about Indigenous rights and a new relationship between Indigenous people and newcomers? Do you have some knowledge of the residential schools system? If so, this retreat is for you!

As the Truth and Reconciliation Commission visits communities and survivors across Saskatchewan, we offer this retreat. Whether you’re a teacher, elder, survivor, activist, student, unionist, church or religious community member, come and join us. All backgrounds and faiths or spiritual paths are welcome. Bring your commitment to Indigenous rights, your questions, and your good thoughts.

We will:

· be in circle, ceremony, and silence together

· learn and practice ways of truly listening to the stories of survivors, their families and their communities

· explore how to invite more non-Aboriginal people to TRC hearings

· make plans for strengthening grassroots networks in support of Indigenous rights

** If you’re new to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the history of the Indian Residential Schools system, a separate intro workshop is available for your church, class, or community. Please contact Dawn Rolke or Julie Graham, below. We would love to connect with you. **

Sponsors: Calling Lakes Centre; Saskatchewan Justice and Right Relations Home Group (United Church); KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives.

Health support will be present during this retreat.

Cost: $200, includes all meals, accommodations and resources. The cost for the entire event is subsidized; some additional subsidies are available. Please enquire through Julie Graham with KAIROS (below).
