“With My Body I Thee Worship…”
Tuesday, March 15 – Friday, March 18, 2016
Led by Br. Robert Sevensky
These words, drawn from the 1662 marriage rite of the Church of England, remind us that divine worship is always embodied and invites the participation of the whole person. This retreat will examine Christian spiritual practices that engage the body and the senses. It will include breath awareness, chanting, posture (standing, bowing, kneeling), gestures, movement (pilgrimage, Stations of the Cross) sacramental and devotional materials (bread, wine, water, oil, palms, lights, incense) vestments and vesture, and praying with objects or images. How can an awareness of our bodies at prayer open us to God’s presence and power?
Cost: $285, deposit: $80
