Ghost Ranch is an expansive PLACE with a capacity to lure people into experiences of deep reflection and creativityMany have been drawn to this land including legendary artist Georgia O’Keeffe (whose Ghost Ranch home dwells on a restricted part of the Ranch). This course will offer a framework and foundation on “the notion of place” as well as instruction and experiences with landscape painting and writing. Additionally, it will explore the works and words of Georgia O’Keeffe to provide a path for discovering/expanding one’s own creativity and expression. The class is open to beginning as well as more advanced students. Studio time will be supplemented with library study, demonstrations, guest instructors, and visits to museums and galleries in Santa Fe.

karen-buttsKaren Butts is the Tours and Activities Coordinator at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico where she is the lead guide for the Georgia O’Keeffe Landscape Tour.  She became interested in Georgia O’Keeffe while taking an Art History class at Sarah Lawrence College.  Karen is an outdoor enthusiast and has worked in the field teaching natural history in Montana, California, and the desert Southwest.
