Led by Sister Hildegard Pleva, OSsR

Wednesday, October 10, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Hildegard of Bingen, a medieval mystic known as Prophetess of the Rhine, long canonized by the people, will receive the official designation of saint in the Roman Catholic Church in October of this year. Her reputation as visionary, naturalist, playwright, poet and composer makes her worthy of inclusion in any list of creative geniuses. She wrote of her visions and spoke in critical tone to kings and bishops and fought for the independence of her monastic community. Hildegard speaks to us across the centuries, not about personal mystical union, but rather the Mystery of God, who in Christ is present in the cosmos, in history, and in the depths of the human heart. Her life experience and visions come to us in archetypal language, set in the context of Benedictine spirituality, and through the filtering lens of female experience. Hildegard, Wisdom’s prophet, can become mentor for both the personal and communal journey required by 21st century reality.

Presentation will include recorded music and illuminations of Hildegard’s visions.

Cost: $50
