Scratching the Surface…
To turn our dyed fabric into successful art-cloths we will be layering designs by adding paint, print and stitch. (Along with our work on fabric this is your chance to dye just the right colour thread to go with your art cloth). Development of your own design will create a unique art-cloth: a thing of beauty all on its own or the start of an amazing quilt.
All dyes and chemicals required will be provided for this workshop. There will be a lab fee for this course.
Catherine Nicholls lives and works in Gibsons, B.C. and draws inspiration from the natural world, her travels, and the people she meets along the way. The history of people, their stories, legends, cultures and sense of place are the creative raw materials for her themed exhibitions worldwide. She works on paper and fabric with discharge, dyeing, drawing, painting, and printing. Textile pieces are densely stitched by hand or machine, often both. www.ravensthread.com / @ravensthread
