Rome Summer School: A Writer’s Rome
Byron exclaimed “Oh Rome! My country! city of my soul!” and over the centuries many writers have felt a sense of affinity with this many-layered city. Course leader, Salley Vickers, author of Miss Garnet’s Angel and The Other Side of You, which is set partly in Rome, will be looking at these and other novels with Roman associations (such as Portrait of a Lady and Middlemarch) and also the poetry of Keats and Shelley. The course includes some exploration of Rome, including those places associated with English writers.
Cost: 520 €
