Persian Poetry: A Door to Sufism

31st January – 31st January 2016

This is a talk about those Persian poets such as Omar Khayam, Rumi, Hafez, Saadi and many others who, along the centuries, have opened a way to a wisdom that often defied – and still does – religious orthodoxy.

In this talk, Muriel Maufroy will introduce us to a world of beauty that is still very alive in Iran but resonates far beyond its borders.

Muriel Maufroy is an ex-BBC journalist. She has a degree in Persian studies from SOAS and is the author of Breathing Truth, a book of quotations from Jalaluddin Rumi, and Rumi’s Daughter, a novel based on the poet’s life. Muriel’s forthcoming book is titled On the Other Side of Love and will be published by O-Books.

Visit Muriel’s website here.

Tickets are priced at £8, which includes tea / coffee.
