Listening & Sounding as a Spiritual Practice

April 27, 2015
Offered by Five Oaks Centre

Across the world and down through time, individuals and communities have made sound as an expression of spirituality. The Great Mystery, however conceived, has been historically celebrated through musical forms that have nothing to do with entrainment and everything to do with engagement. Building on this long tradition, Gary Diggins will involve us in listening deeply and sounding intentionally through sonic rituals. No musical background is necessary as we will employ user-friendly instruments. We need only bring the energy of intention, the spirit of improvisation, and the gift of inspiration.

Leadership:
Gary Diggins has served individuals for over three decades in a practice known as ’soundwork as soulwork.’  He has worked in Africa with communities affected by conflict and has facilitated sessions around the world based on the notion that music is medicine.  Gary and his family left Toronto in 2013 to establish a sound sanctuary in Guelph, Ontario.  For further information, go to www.garydiggins.com
