Based on the work of author Parker J. Palmer, this Courage & Renewal ® retreat explores issues of transition, vocation, life passion, purpose, meaning, aging, direction, and underlying life patterns, to live in alignment with one’s deepest values. 
In a safe, quiet, nurturing, and confidential environment, the retreat promotes reflection and clarity, and uses poetry, prose, music, movement, and the stunning beauty of the high desert. Savor daily contemplative practices. Enjoy periods of quiet time, journaling and self-reflection, and large and small group discussions. Clearness committees, a Quaker communal process for individual discernment, is the capstone the retreat. Two off-ranch trips are planned. Exhale deeply and relax at a nearby mineral spa (at an extra fee) and enjoy an afternoon of Gregorian chant at Christ in the Desert Monastery.
Located two miles from the main campus, Casa del Sol is a retreat house at Ghost Ranch dedicated to deeper spiritual contemplation. In 2013, many workshops which are conducive to small group work and contemplative space, including this one, are being held at Casa del Sol. These workshops are designated with the sun symbol beside the title throughout workshop description pages.

Valerie Brown is President of Mindful Solutions, LLC, providing training, facilitating and coaching services in Circle of Trust® retreats, mindfulness and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to promote transformation through awareness and renewal. She is a Circle of Trust® facilitator prepared by the Center for Courage & Renewal and Parker J. Palmer. She is a Quaker and was ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh as a lay member of the Tien Hiep Order. A popular retreat leader, yoga teacher and author, she was featured in the book “Awakening Beauty the Dr. Hauschka Way” (Clarkson/Potter Publishers, 2006).
