Drawing from a Deeper Well Retreat Series

Learning Together: Program offered in partnership with Emmanuel College Continuing Education and Oaten Institute of Five Oaks.

PLEASE NOTE:  This is the first of three gatherings – Participants must commit to all three.  (Sept. 19, Oct. 17 & Nov. 14, 2016).
All of us wishing to live a Spirit-filled life both within and beyond the church need time to refresh our spirit and replenish our spiritual resources. Setting aside time for this is difficult when the demands of our professional and personal commitments, the outer activity and the inner noise seem endless. These four days of guided retreat are an opportunity to deepen your personal practices, and to nurture your own spiritual needs in the company of fellow seekers.  Together and individually we will dip again into the well, exploring themes and practices that can have a positive impact on our lives, regardless of our diverse responsibilities and life experiences.
Sessions will include: a variety of prayer practices including movement, stillness, silence and journaling; discussion in large and small groups, as well as time for individual reflection, outdoor time, lunch and conversation. A safe space will be created for participants to bring their honest reflections, experiences and questions to the group. These days of rest and restoration are an opportunity to practice much-needed self-compassion.

Participants may wish to take advantage of the opportunity to extend any of these events by an overnight stay, at additional cost, either prior to or following the event.

Anne Simmonds (annesimmonds.ca) is adjunct faculty at Emmanuel College where she teaches courses on Prayer and Death, Dying and Grieving. She is a gifted retreat and workshop facilitator, spiritual director and pastoral counselor with specific training in practices for balance and healing of body, mind and spirit. Formerly Minister of Pastoral Care at Rosedale United Church, former hospital chaplain and nurse, Anne brings her own personal spiritual practice and experience of life and ministry to this program.
