Cultivating Inner Stillness: A Guided Silent Retreat

This will be a time to explore inner stillness and all that is has to teach us for our journey. We will begin Sunday evening with an orientation to the retreat time: what to expect, how will the days flow, time for check-in each day, any questions or concerns about how to be in silence. We will end our time with a prayer/worship time for entering the stillness.

Monday to Wednesday we will be in silence. We will have a prayer time each morning and evening to give structure to our day. In addition there will be opportunity each day for each participant to meet with Rick for a spiritual check-in time (or spiritual direction session). Meals will also be in silence.

Thursday morning we will use our Morning Prayer time as our coming out of silence ritual. The rest of the morning will be a time to debrief the experience of practicing inner stillness. We will also spend time reflecting on the transition from this time of silent retreat into our regular lives beyond Sorrento. We will conclude with lunch together.

Sunday Nov. 18 – Thursday Nov. 22. Starting Sunday at 5:30pm with supper; and ending Thursday at 1pm after lunch.

RICK McCORRISTER serves as a United Church minister with the Spirit Hills Pastoral Charge in Saskatchewan, which includes the communities of Tugaske, Eyebrow, Central Butte, Riverhurst, and Brownlee. A graduate of the Pacific Jubilee Program in Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction, he is currently a staff member of the Prairie Jubilee Program in Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction. Rick has studied the Enneagram in its various forms for 15 years and the Sacred Movements and teachings of Georges Gurdjieff for 10 years, and in particular has been using the Sacred Movements to inform and enhance the teachings of the Enneagram.
