Conflict Resolution Training

The Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution (CICR), recognized nationally and internationally for conflict management training and interventions, is offering Conflict Resolution Training on campus. All four modules will be offered during the 2018-2019 academic year (see below for dates). Through this unique and comprehensive accredited program, participants learn how to uncover the sources and dynamics of conflict, enabling the development of sustainable solutions.

Registration Fees

Regular Fees: $1,600 per module (+ HST)
Reduced Fees for not for profit: $1,150 (+ HST)
Full-Time Students: $600 (+ HST)
Part-Time Students: $850 (+HST)

Modules

  • THIRD-PARTY NEUTRAL 1: BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF CONFLICT
    FEBRUARY 25 – March 1, 2019 | 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
    Foundational principles of intervention and an introduction to coaching, mediation and facilitation. Learn the skills and processes required to be competent and comfortable in the midst of conflict. TPN-1 is a pre-requisite for Modules 2,3,4 unless specific exemption is granted by CICR.
  • THIRD-PARTY NEUTRAL 2: FACILITATION FOR GROUPS IN CONFLICT
    MARCH 4 – 8, 2019 | 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
    Building on Module 1 this module provides focused training on facilitating groups/communities in conflict, modeling processes to manage the conflict instead of the conflict managing the group.
  • THIRD-PARTY NEUTRAL 3: MEDIATION
    APRIL 1 – 5, 2019 | 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
    Building on the mediation introduction in Module 1, key mediator skills such as conflict analysis, facilitating dialogue, reframing and questioning, maintaining fairness and equity within the mediation process are practiced.
  • THIRD-PARTY NEUTRAL 4: PRINCIPLES, PRACTICE AND REFLECTIONS
    JUNE 3 – 7, 2019 | 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
    A review of the key principles, processes and techniques acquired in the first 3 modules. It also goes deeper into multi-party conflicts and negotiations, co-mediation, conflict styles, human identity needs, and process designs for conflict interventions. TPN-2 and TPN-3 are pre-requisites.

A certificate is awarded for each 40 hour module. The final certificate for 160 hours of conflict resolution training is granted upon completion of all four modules. These highly informative and interactive modules are based on adult education models and facilitated by accredited, experienced CICR trainers.
