Beginnings: Biblical Hebrew and Genesis 1-3

This online class introduces students to biblical Hebrew by closely reading and discussing the first chapters of the Bible: it is about beginnings—beginning Hebrew at the beginning of the Bible. Participants will learn the Hebrew alphabet and essential Hebrew grammar through weekly readings, tutorials, and homework on the texts of Genesis 1-3. No prior Hebrew experience is required, though students who have taken some Hebrew are welcome to enroll. The class will be engaging and enriching for all who desire a deeper understanding of Hebrew Scripture in its original language; it will open up fresh insights into these important biblical chapters and prepare students for ongoing work with biblical Hebrew.
