Associates’ Work/Study Weekend Christian Emptiness
with Andrew Halladay
Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus,
who, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God
as something to be exploited,
but emptied himself… – Philippians 2: 5-7a
Do you ever feel like you have too much stuff? Do you ever feel like you think too many things? Do you ever feel like the world is forcing you to ingest too much?
Come to Sorrento Centre! Leave it all behind! Learn how to let it all go!
We will explore the relationship between emptiness and simple living, between emptiness and detachment, between emptiness and the mystical ‘descent’ of God, and between emptiness and fullness.
ANDREW HALLADAY is an Anglican priest in the Diocese of New Westminster, Vicar of the Parish of St Augustine’s Marpole in Vancouver, a trainer for the Diocesan School for Parish Development, and a ringleader of the Diocesan Arts Ministry Sheep and Goats. He is an amateur actor and musician, and has a special fondness for throwing out all treasures hidden away in church closets and basements.
