Advent: Watching, Waiting & Wonder
You are invited to come away to the high desert of Ghost Ranch at Casa del Sol to begin your Advent journey. Winter in the desert lends itself to living in sacred space as we explore the four themes of Advent: Hope, Peace, Joy and Love which will culminate in the Incarnation.
We will get ready for the birth of the Christ child by preparing our hearts and souls for his coming. We will sweep them clean as we read, discuss, journal and pray as we make room for the savior, born in Bethlehem.
We will begin on Sunday with an introduction. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be given over to the four Advent themes listed above. We will take time each day to be in expectant silence. On Friday we will celebrate Christmas and take our leave on Saturday morning.
We will have sessions in the morning. The afternoons are free and we will gather around the fire at Casa del Sol in fellowship after supper to talk together about the watching, waiting and wonder of the day.
I recommend reading the small book The Vigil: Keeping Watch in the Season of Christ’s Coming by Wendy M. Wright in preparation for this course.
Please note that our workshop price structure packages your tuition, course materials, lodging and meals together in a single rate. Prices are presented for each of the types of lodging available for the workshop you select. All rates are Per Person, Double Occupancy unless otherwise specified.
Single Occupancy: Single occupancy rooms may be reserved for an additional $50 per night when space is available. The fee will be charged when space is confirmed. Single occupancy lodging is generally not available during June and July. If you are a single person and do not specify a roommate, a roommate of the same gender will be assigned to share your lodging space or you can request the single occupancy and be charged the supplement of an additional $50 per night (based on availability).
