Applying Spiritual Literacy for Thriving Individuals and Teams
About 75% of the United States workforce has experienced or is currently experiencing workplace burnout, and worldwide numbers are similar. This two-day workshop meets you where you are, whether you are feeling stressed or totally depleted. Whether you are a manager, a member of a team, a solo worker, or an unpaid caregiver, this workshop will help you understand:
- what burnout looks like in the body, spirit, and brain,
- what causes (past and present, personal and structural) are feeding into the condition, and
- how to go forward feeling lighter, more satisfied, and newly purposeful.
Many approaches to burnout focus only on the mind and/or the body, neglecting the heart and soul. This course addresses burnout holistically, because burnout is also a spiritual malady that results when we do not take time to connect to what gives us joy or meaning.
This course addresses burnout by applying spiritual literacy, which is the ability to read the signs that help us discern a world full of meaning and connection. Spiritual Literacy training enables spiritual leaders, chaplains, life coaches, educators, counselors, spiritual directors and companions, psychologists, social workers, community organizers and activists, healthcare professionals, nonprofit and business leaders, and others to thrive both personally and professionally.
Through presentation, discussion, self-assessment, reflection, and, most of all, spiritual practice, participants will gain the knowledge, mindsets, and skills key to overcoming burnout and achieving resiliency. These capacities include self-care, self-compassion, boundary-setting, energy management, and healthy communication.
To facilitate continued thriving, participants will walk away with
- concrete and individualized plans for daily and emergency self-care,
- a kit of spiritual practices that work to soothe, ground, and recharge them,
- tools and strategies for applying spiritual literacy to: navigate communication styles, listen deeply, work through conflicts, and build cohesive teams.
