Pastoral Care

This course will provide a theological foundation to undergird practical theology courses at Regent. It will offer a vision for church ministry that is theologically grounded in the essentials of the historic Christian faith. The creative, redemptive, and perfecting works of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are the source of the church’s life and mission; pastoral ministry (word, sacrament, prayer) equips the saints to praise God and be his witnesses in the world. For this theological standpoint, the course will provide pastoral wisdom for a ministry of care in the church and the world. The following topics will be covered: children and families, marriage and singleness, vocation and discernment, evil and suffering, death and grieving, trauma and mental health.
