Story is folded into our DNA, our traditions and our wellbeing. It’s an important way we increase understanding, empathy and possibility. Religious texts rely on the power of story for teaching about truths, evolving traditions and how we connect, however imperfectly, with one another and Spirit.
Mark your calendar and plan to attend a very special story-telling and writer’s retreat at the Sorrento Centre in the beautiful Shuswap region of British Columbia.
During this time together, participants will gather to learn practical tips, share their stories and discuss the art and craft of writing. There will also be plenty of time for reflecting and writing, including rambling across the 24-acre main campus of the Sorrento Centre and nearby trails and scenic spots.
Meredith Egan is the author of critically acclaimed novels, Just Living: a novel and Tide’s End: A Just Living novel. These stories are shaped from her work with crime victims and prisoners over more than thirty years. Meredith is trained in meditation and peacemaking circles and has been honoured to learn from many First Nations peoples. With the Quakers and other religious groups in Canada, she worked alongside many talented colleagues on policy and legislative reform.
Meredith is a trained executive coach, working with writers and other creative folks to offer workshops and personal support. She hosts a creative writing group in the medium security Mission Institution as a part of her volunteer activities. Meredith lives in Groundswell Ecovillage in beautiful Yarrow, BC with her menagerie. For fun she dabbles in cooking soup for her neighbours and soaking in her hot tub with her four adult children when they visit. This past year she began answering to GrandMaMere.
