The Eucharist in Ecumenical Perspective
How has the Eucharist, the sign and means of Christian unity, become the site at which Christian denominational division and brokenness is most visible? This course explores this question by looking at the Eucharist though an ecumenical lens. Featuring Anglican (Prof. Daniel Driver) and Roman Catholic (Prof. David Deane) instructors, the course looks at the history and distinctive theologies of the Lord’s supper. It looks at issues such as intercommunion and eucharistic fast, and it invites all to a conversation about the future of Christian unity. No previous theological study is required to participate in the Continuing Education section of this exciting course that aims to advance the cause of Christian understanding and unity. Participants may attend the classes on campus or participate online in real time (that is, watch the lecture on your computer, tablet, or phone, and converse with peers in the online breakout sessions). You can be heard and seen by others online and those in class, so you can speak and ask questions just as you could if you were present in person. (3.0 CEU)
