The Ways in the Wilderness program explores biblical, monastic, and personal themes of wilderness as we visit sites in Israel, Palestine, and Jordan.
Ways in the Wilderness focuses on biblical, monastic, and spiritual themes of wilderness, including the narratives of the Israelites, the formative ministry of Jesus Christ and the rise of Judean monasticism. In doing so, the course explores the interaction of landscape, narrative and experience. The program, which journeys from Jerusalem to the Negev, the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea, Jordan and the Jordan River Valley, travels across the vast desert landscapes that shaped the imagination of the biblical writers.
Lakiya Bedouin Experience, Be’er Sheva Ways in the Wilderness is particularly suited for people interested in themes of desert and wilderness, spirituality and monasticism, and landscape and biblical imagination. The program provides a profoundly authentic experience for pilgrims desiring time and space in less traveled, but arguably more rewarding, spiritual places.
