Born in the mountains of North Carolina and raised in coastal New England, Stede grew up surrounded by great influences of nature and fine art. Drawings filled her mother’s letters, friends’ pockets and classroom bulletin boards. She eventually took her easel to the great outdoors as a landscape painter, moving to the Southwest with its grand vistas and brilliant colors. Throughout her life, she has continued teaching, bring her love of art, color and nature to those who hear the call of paint brush and easel.
