Jesus—we hear talk of him everywhere. His deeds, his followers, his mystique, his legacy—but really, who was Jesus? How do we, as people of the modern day, relate to this man who lived two thousand years ago? Most importantly, what does he mean to us? In the beauty of the expansiveness of Ghost Ranch, we will explore and wonder together about what the gospel says about Jesus and figure out together how the life of Jesus applies to our daily lives at school, church and within our families. Through this exploration of who Jesus is we will delve into ourselves as well, unraveling the mystery of who we are as people of Christ.

Claudio Carvalhaes, a theologian and artist, was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he also earned his degree from the Independent Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He was ordained by the Independent Presbyterian Church of Brazil and served two different Presbyterian congregations in Sao Paulo. In a partnership between the Presbytery of Sao Paulo and the Presbytery of Southern New England, Carvalhaes became one of the first missionaries to do “reverse mission” coming to US after Presbyterians went to Brazil in 1859. He has published articles, in English, Spanish and Portuguese, on the relation between globalization, immigration, multiculturalism and post-colonial theologies/liturgies, worship, arts, and the Christian faith.
