Transition into Ministry

May 13 – 16, 2014, 2014

This course focuses on knowledge and skills that are critical in moving from the Seminary to a first call in pastoral ministry and leadership in a congregation. The participant will begin to learn how to become a contextual theologian in ministry. The course will highlight three major elements, each of which will be considered in theological perspective: Starting Strong; Leading Change and Managing Conflict; and Spiritual Formation and Self-Care. Professionals from the Auburn Media Center will be available for hands-on media training. This course assumes a firm theological understanding as well as practical skills in preaching, teaching and pastoral care.

The Transition into Ministry course is led by our own faculty, with past experience in denominational transition into ministry programs, the Presbytery Leader of the Presbytery of Genesee Valley and the Director of Auburn Media.
