Join Earl Palmer and Michael Denham for a conversation about expositional preaching, teaching, and worship. Explore effective preaching and how worship surrounds the teaching of scripture. This seminar is “part II” of the first Exposition Seminar offered in 2015. Part II will cover new material. It is not necessary to have attended the first seminar.

Leadership

Earl F. Palmer

Earl F. Palmer is Pastor-At-Large with Earl Palmer Ministries, an organization created in 2008 at his retirement from University Presbyterian Church, Seattle, WA. In a ministry that has spanned nearly sixty years, Earl has served as minister to students and later as Pastor at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle, WA; Pastor of Union Church of Manila; Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, CA; and Preaching Pastor-in-Residence at The National Presbyterian Church, Washington DC. A graduate of University of California, Berkeley, and Princeton Theological Seminary he has an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Seattle Pacific University and Doctor of Divinity from Whitworth University.

Earl is known for his warm-hearted, insightful, down-to-earth expositional preaching, and for his expertise on Christian scholars such as C.S. Lewis, Karl Barth, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer. While serving in local churches, he has preached and taught widely nationally and internationally in such places as China, Philippines, Canada, and England (Cambridge and Oxford), as well as throughout the United States. Earl has served on the Boards of Princeton Theological Seminary, New College Berkeley, Whitworth University and Regent College. He has written broadly and authored numerous articles and 20 major books. His latest book, To Run the Race: St. Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy, was published in November, 2014. He is married to Shirley and they have 3 married children—Anne (Greg), Jon (Kara Diane) and Elizabeth (Eric)–and eight grandchildren.

Michael Denham is Director of Music Ministries at National Presbyterian Church in Washington D. C. where he has served since 1997. A widely acclaimed tenor, and a gifted, patient teacher, Michael has appeared as soloist with orchestras and in opera across the United States, and teaches classes and workshops internationally. At NPC, he shapes worship to draw deep meaning and powerful experience from Scripture. A graduate of Wheaton College, Dr. Denham holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Illinois, a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, and artist certificates from the Hochschule “Mozarteum” in Salzburg, Austria. He completed all coursework toward the Doctor of Musical Arts from the College of Music at the University of North Texas, and he earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Beeson Divinity School of Samford University.
