“Becoming Salt of the Earth”

26–28 September 2014

At the invitation of Latvian Lutheran and Catholic Church communities, a stage of the Pilgrimage of Trust on Earth, led by Taizé since many years, will be held in Riga from 26 to 28 September 2014.

Young adults between 16 and 35 from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Scandinavia and Finland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Poland and other countries are invited to take part in common prayer together with brothers from the Taizé Community, in meetings and workshops, and to experience the hospitality of families and parishes in Riga.

In 2014, Riga will be one of the European Capitals of Culture – the meeting will be a sign of faith in Christ for young people.

Practical information

Young adults will be accommodated in families in Riga. Arrival will start on Friday morning and will be followed by midday and evening prayers, and supper.

Saturday morning will begin with prayers and meetings in the host parishes, followed by lunch and prayer in central Riga, workshops on social involvement, faith and inner life, intercultural communication, art and other themes, before supper and prayer in central Riga.

Sunday will start with morning services in host parishes, continued with lunches with host families and closing prayer in central Riga.
