Welcome to the Ontario Jubilee Program, designed for individuals and professionals interested in spiritual renewal and continuing education:
- contemplative spiritual practices are developed in an interactive, evocative, spacious and embodied environment;
- attention is given the Divine’s presence and guidance;
- everyone is respected for their unique experience and giftedness;
- creation becomes a source of teaching and renewal, offering us a glimpse of the Divine.

Overview of the Jubilee Program
There are several phases to the Jubilee program and participants can begin with Phase I before deciding if they want to continue to Phase II.
Phase I – Spiritual Deepening
For anyone who wants to deepen their relationship with the Divine – an excellent opportunity for professional development. This first year of the Jubilee program is devoted to experiential spiritual formation and spiritual practice. Within a caring community, participants begin the important process of listening and attending to the Spirit.
Topics that will be covered in Phase I:
– contemplative and embodied spiritual practices
– self awareness through dreams and the enneagram
– listening skills and discernment resources for listening and
responding to the Divine.

Phase II – Spiritual Direction
For anyone who completed Phase 1 can discern if they are called to the ministry of spiritual direction (also known as spiritual guidance/ accompaniment/ companioning). Those formed/trained as spiritual directors who wish to update or further their skill and practice are also eligible to apply.
Topics that will be covered in Phase II:
– practice in spiritual direction
– spiritual direction using dreams and the enneagram
– supervision in spiritual direction
– ethical considerations
– contemporary applications in a variety of settings
– starting a private practice

Phase III – Continuing Soul Connections
Educational events and alumni gatherings follow Phase II. These are events and gatherings created by and for Jubilee Associates (alumni) supported by Ontario Jubilee staff. Additionally, Jubilee Associates (alumni) are assisting in the creation of an e-newsletter published periodically. Watch for Jubilee events on the Five Oaks website. Core Staff of the Ontario Jubilee Program:
Miriam Frey, M.A., D.Min, is the Director of the program with experience in facilitating workshops, leading retreats and teaching spirituality courses.
Nicola Usher, a graduate of the Pacific Jubilee program, has been a Registered Massage Therapist with a private practice in and around Stratford, Ontario for over 20 years.
Paul Adams received formal training in spiritual direction from Associated Mennonite Theological Seminaries. He serves as a pastor at Tavistock Mennonite Church.
Darrow Woods, a graduate of the Ontario Jubilee program, is a husband, father, minister, runner, jazz fan, and writer. He currently serves at Trinity United Church in Oakville.
Catherine Maine, a graduate of the Pacific Jubilee Program, and facilitator of Sacred Circle Dance and the Labyrinth. She lives in Kitchener.
