This weekend is designed to slow down and learn how to ‘be’.
Our keynote speaker is Rev. John Borthwick is an ordained minister with The Presbyterian Church in Canada. He has served two churches over 25 years of ministry – celebrating his 20th year with St. Andrew’s Guelph next month. He is an experienced teacher and facilitator, specializing in the areas of traumatology, resilience, moral distress, empathic strain, conflict mediation, and leadership development. He has worked with non-profit boards, universities, faith communities, and First Responders across North America. For seven years, John provided volunteer chaplain services to members of Guelph Police Service. Working as an Associate for Tend Academy, he provides education and resources to organizations and leaders in helping professions who desire to stay healthy, effective, and engaged as they do challenging work. As one who strives to practice what he preaches, John will say that he has “thrived” in his work for a quarter century because he discovered the innumerable benefits of sabbath rest and rituals
