Exploring our faith

CHARLES RICE

Feb 3-5, 2012

Fri 6:30 dinner thru Sun lunch

Program $335

For our 28th retreat, we gather on a
winter weekend for informal conversations
around the fire, plenty of free time,
meals together, simple worship, and
“Music with Quiet.” This year we are
reading: two novels, Evelyn Waugh’s
Brideshead Revisited and Carson Mc-
Cullers’ The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter; the
short stories of Ernest Hemingway; and
the poetry of Natasha Trethewey and
David Hall.

Each year a core group comes to
Kirkridge for this retreat, and each
year we welcome new members to our
circle. Some of us have come to this
winter weekend for almost three decades,
but somehow our time together
remains fresh. The books, of course,
change, and each of us comes with
new chapters that have been written
in our personal lives over the past
year. And the new faces among us
enrich our time together.

If there is someone you know who
likes to read and would welcome an
opportunity to talk about literature
and faith, and to meet new people in
a joyous environment, send an invitation.
The rooms are more comfortable
than ever, and Kirkridge’s food is
wholesome and delicious. We will lay
a fire and expect you–and perhaps a
friend of yours–for a warm time together
in midwinter.
