7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Location
St. Laurence Anglican Church
5940 Lakeview Drive SW

Speaker/Facilitator:
Please plan on joining The Rev. Don McLeod for a contemplative exploration of the Gospel of Thomas. The Gospel of Thomas is no doubt the single most important early Christian text to be recovered in the monumental Nag Hammadi collection unearthed in the Egyptian desert in 1945. Cynthia Bourgeault has suggested that “the contemporary re-emergence of this ancient text has the profound potential for “changing the face of Christianity.”
We will meet Tuesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00 pm beginning Tuesday, October 23 and finishing Tuesday, November 13th. No cost but please register by emailing [email protected] The session will include contemplative reflection on a few of the sayings (logia) each evening as well as space for some chanting and meditation. You may wish to obtain a copy of the Gospel of Thomas but if you do not have a copy handouts will be provided.
If you wish to obtain a copy of the Gospel of Thomas, Don has recommended one of these translations:
The Gospel of Thomas: Wisdom of the Twin by Lynn Bauman
The Gospel of Thomas: The Gnostic Wisdom of Jesus by Jean-Yves LeLoup
The Gospel of Thomas: A New Translation for Spiritual Seekers by Mark M. Mattison
