ClergyShift: New Ways of Leading the Church
Learning Together – Program offered in partnership with Emmanuel College Continuing Education and Oaten Institute of Five Oaks.
Across the United Church congregations are being led by the Holy Spirit to discover new ways of being church in a post-Christendom context. Many congregations are engaging in the Missional Church conversation.
Are you finding that being Missional is easier to talk about than to practice? The transition is often difficult and disruptive. There are no maps for the journey.
ClergyShift is an invitation to think & act differently:
- from traditional strategic planning to a spirit-led process
- from the “Attractional” to the “Missional” church
- from Professional Ministry to lay inspired mission
Join this learning community to discuss, discover, and discern:

- opportunities to share your stories and harvest wisdom from others
Facilitators:
Animators Lynn Smith and Allan Reeve are team ministry pioneers engaging the potential of lay inspired missions.
Lynn brings extensive knowledge and creative energy as an educator and Lay Leader. She’s been pursuing the Emerging Church from evangelical roots, through the Third Wave movement, to Diaconal Ministry training in the United Church. Lynn’s motto is “It has to be fun.”
Allan is an innovator and creator of many collaborative community projects. In Toronto’s east end, his church was a woodshop and business incubator. He’s taught Community Development at George Brown and Fleming colleges. Rev. Reeve has served congregations in rural Bobcaygeon and downtown Peterborough pursuing the Divine Imagination of what it is to be the church today.
