Certificates in Continuing Education

If you are interested in enriching your faith through study and would like to be recognized for credit work, then you will want to consider the Certificate in Continuing Education being offered through the Chalmers Institute.

Two kinds of certificates will be offered:

1. General Certificates may be earned on the successful completion of 10 Chalmers Summer School credit-designated courses of 1.5 credit hours each in any combination of subjects. These courses include the successful completion of an evaluative 8-10 page (2000-2500 words) paper.

2. Specialized Certificates may be earned in the following areas of specialization:

Specialization Credit-designation codes
(see page 4 in Summer School brochure)
• Biblical Studies (BIB)
• Christian Spirituality (SP)
• Ministry Studies (MIN)
• Theological Studies (TH)

A Specialized Certificate may be earned on the successful completion of 10 Chalmers Summer School credit-designated courses of 1.5 credit hours each, six of which must be taken within the area of specialization. These courses include the successful completion of an evaluative 8-10 page (2000-2500 words) paper.

Students desiring the Certificate in Continuing Education must indicate on the Summer School registration form (page 19) which certificate is being sought. Please note: In addition to the appropriate tuition fee, there is an additional $50 fee per course for Continuing Education Certificate credits.

Once successful completion of the stipulated requirement have been met, students may apply to receive the Certificate in Continuing Education. It is the responsibility of the student to keep track of the courses completed through Chalmers Summer School. When the 10 courses have been completed, the applicant must participate in a brief consultation with the Summer School coordinator to confirm the student course record. An administrative fee of $75.00 is required to receive the Certificate, which will be awarded during Summer School the year following the successful completion of the requirements.

Please note: Only courses taken during and after the Summer program of 2001 may be applied to the Certificate. All course work for a Certificate must be completed within an 8 year framework.
