Pastoral Care

This course will provide a theological foundation to undergird practical theology courses at Regent.  With an awareness that the gospel must continually be contextualized and translated in culture, this course will offer a vision of church ministry that is theologically grounded in the essentials of the Trinitarian faith.  The primary premise of this course is that the church is a community of persons in union with and indwelt by the triune God.  The redemptive, reconciling ministry of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit engages the church, and our pastoral ministry helps equip missionary disciples to be God’s witnesses in the world.  From this strongly articulated theological understanding of pastoral care, the course will provide the student with skills to practically apply their learning in the church and world.  The course will address general care, crisis care, addiction care, marriage and family care, and death/bereavement/grief care.
